Appalachian Brewing Mountain Lager
Lager is a style that I always seem to forget about when I go shopping and looking for something new. It’s a style that, once I crack a bottle open, I wish I had picked up more of.
Amongst a couple of singles I picked up last week was this Dortmunder/Export style Lager from Appalachian Brewing Company (based out of Pennsylvania). This smooth drinking brew comes in at 4.5% ABV and is a prime example of why I need to buy more Lagers in the future.
Appearance
Pouring golden in color with a quickly fading white cap, this brew definitely looks thirst quenching.
Aroma
Light toasted malt, light fruits and an equally light hop presence fill the nose nicely.
Taste
Mountain Lager is a tasty beer. It’s smooth drinking with a light toast and subtle sweetness that fades to a light hop component in the crisp finish. It’s a thirst quenching brew.
Overall
A well balanced brew that’s a nice example for this style. It’s easy to drink and quite sessionable. I might have to pick up more of this as the weather warms this weekend. I have a couple reviews for other products from this brewery in the works for this week, as well.
