Barley Blog - Commentary on Quality Beer

In The Fridge IV

It seems we went through the last round of beers a bit quicker than anticipated. We’ll make this one last a bit longer. Maybe.

  • Chimay Grand Reserve (Bières de Chimay)
  • Three Philosophers (Brewery Ommegang)
  • Hopback Amber Ale (Tröegs Brewing Co)
  • Orval Trappist Ale (Brasserie d’Orval S.A.)
  • Diabolique (De Proefbrouwerij)
  • 90 Minute Imperial IPA (Dogfish Head Craft Brewery)
  • Copper Ale (Otter Creek)
  • Steelhead Extra Stout (Mad River Brewing)
  • Troegenator Double Bock (Tröegs Brewing Co)
  • Saint Bridget’s Porter (Great Divide Brewing Co)
  • Black Chocolate Stout (Brooklyn Brewery)
  • He’Brew Messiah Bold (Shmaltz Brewing Company) (
  • Samuel Smith’s India Ale (Samuel Smith Old Brewery)

The Chimay and Hopback six pack may turn into a routine order for the wife. She’s really loving that Tröegs ale. I’m particularly looking forward to the Brooklyn — it’s been a while since I last had it.

Kudos on a great blog! The first beer blog I’ve seen that both looks great and celebrates the many aspects of the beers that my husband and I love to be snobs about! :) I’ve not yet acquired the palate for the Belgians that my husband loves so much, but there’s hope for me yet I suppose. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the kind words Alexis. You’re husband is lucky in a way. I have to fight my wife for any Belgian beer that we have in the house.
