The Session #2: Belgian Dubbel

By BarleyBlog

Fine, I’ll come right on out and say it — I suck.

It’s Friday, April 6 and that means The Session #2 is upon us in all it’s glory. Yet, I’m so totally unprepared. I have absolutely nothing planned for today’s event.

Before, during, and after last weekend’s festivities, I had planned on running out to pick up one of my favorite dubbels. One might think that being in a new shop last Saturday would have reminded me to pick up a bottle. Actually, I picked up more than a few bottles, but nothing in the dubbel variety.

What can I say? The place had shiny lights and I’m easily distracted.

So, all excuses aside, I don’t have a dubbel at home at the moment, but figured I would point readers to a review from earlier in the year. Westmalle Trappist Dubbel wasn’t a beer I was familiar with at the time. I had enjoyed the brewery’s trippel on several occasions, and memories of those events drove me to pick up the dubbel. I’m glad I finally got around to it. Hopefully, the review will turn you on to it as well.

Happy Session!

How about that? That’s the one I tasted for this version of the Session.

It’s still early. There’s almost 14 hours of the day left in the Eastern time zone. You still have time. Go for it!

I just got done reading your review. Lucky for me, I took to Belgian beers like a fish to water ;)

We’ll convert you yet.
