Beer Blog Discussing All Things Craft Beer

Celebrating 75 Years of Beer

By BarleyBlog | April 7th, 2008 | Beer, Commentary

Prohibition officially ended with the ratification of the 21st Amendment on December 5, 1933. But Americans were legally allowed to start drinking beer again April 7th of that same year when President Roosevelt modified the Volstead Act allowing for the sale of beer with an ABV below 3.2%. While that may seem like a non-alcoholic beverage to most (myself included) I’m sure that it was absolutely heavenly at the time.

To help celebrate the occasion, below is the radio announcement made by August Busch Jr. early, early on that morning.

Very cool.
