Session #22: Repeal of Prohibition

For this month’s Session, 21st Amendment Brewing has taken on a near and dear topic to their own hearts — one that is also perfectly timed with today’s date.

What does the repeal of Prohibition mean to me? And how will I celebrate it’s 75th Anniversary?

This was actually a tough one for me. I’ve thought about that first question over the past couple of days, and I’m not sure how it’s affected me directly. I mean, I don’t make my livelihood by brewing beer, distributing it or selling it. And, sure, I can drink finely crafted brews at my leisure. But, has it really affected me?

If I were to look at it more abstractly, however, the repeal of Prohibition has allowed me the opportunity make new friends and share experiences that I will never forget (i.e. the college years). And I think, in a round about way, it’s somewhat responsible for meeting my wife. I mean, if she hadn’t come up to the apartment that evening from the party one floor down to store a six pack in my fridge, who knows where I’d be?

So, how does one go about celebrating an event that may or may not have directly affected them. Quite simply actually. I plan on sitting back, putting on a movie perhaps and sharing a tasty brew with my wife. I can’t think of anything more appropriate for the occasion.
