Beer Blog Discussing All Things Craft Beer

Thieves Tap Kegs for Scrap, Not Beer

By BarleyBlog | September 3rd, 2008 | Notes

This story was just on the local news a couple of minutes ago. “The industry estimated that 300,000 kegs disappear each year.” I guess that’s sort of like socks mysteriously vanishing from the wash, but on a grander scale.

This can prove to be a real problem for micro breweries. Kegs are damn expensive and some publicans tend to dump them on the street after use where they are easy pickings for scrap merchants.
