Left Hand Deep Cover Brown Ale

Left Hand Deep Cover Brown Ale

I don’t have much background regarding this beer. It’s billed as a classic brown ale that’s “… full of nutty and malty flavors.” Sounds good to me, especially having just recently enjoyed the company’s milk stout for the umpteenth time.

Appearance

Deep Cover pours a dark reddish brown with a small head that faded to a thin, patchy lacing.

Aroma

It certainly smells rich and malty with a subtle caramel sweetness. There’s a faint nuttiness in the nose.

Taste

This one pretty much tastes just like it smells, however, the nuttiness is more apparent here than in the nose. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and very smooth. Caramel sweetness is well balanced with the nutty character that fades into the sem-dry finish.

Overall

I thoroughly enjoyed this one and it paired pretty well with dinner the other night. It’s full flavored character is well balanced and tasty. And at just 4.4% ABV is very drinkable. Had I more of this one, I’m sure that all the bottles would have disappeared quickly.

Rating: 3.5/5
