Terrapin Hopsecutioner

Label: Terrapin Hopsecutioner

Let’s keep the IPA train rolling, shall we. Here’s another new, hoppy brew that I haven’t had before this past weekend. Terrapin’s Hopsecutioner

Terrapin’s Hopsecutioner is brewed with Warrior, Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe, Amarillo hops and then dry hopped with Cascade. That’s quite a bit of hoppiness going on there that translates into a pretty damned tasty, yet not overly brutal or bitter beer.

Appearance

Hopsecutioner pours a clear, golden amber in color with a large, off-white head that left rings on the glass with each sip.

Aroma

Hops, hops and more hops. The nose is packed with a resinous pine presence and grapefruit notes.

Taste

While this is a hoppy beer, it doesn’t quite match the intensity found on the nose. Don’t get me wrong now, there’s still a big-time earthy, hop presence when it hits the tongue, but you won’t be left unable to taste other beers later on in the day. I love the piny resin that the hop combination delivers with this beer. The finish on the brew is slightly dry and bitingly bitter.

Overall

As foreboding as a masked turtle may appear at the gallows, by palate was still intact after enjoying this bottle. it’s got a bit time earthy, hop presence, but it’s certainly not the hoppiest or most taste-bud-destructive IPA I’ve had. My only regret with this one is that I didn’t pick up more than the single bottle in my mixed six pack.
