Until We Meet Again Lost Rhino

For the last couple of years or so, the company that I work for was an easy ten minute drive from Lost Rhino Brewing. This proximity has allowed me to escape the cubicle farm for many lunches with friends and more than a few growler fills on the commute home. It’s been a great many months.

Yesterday, however, I paid my last visit to the Ashburn brewery.

Starting next week, my employer and I make the move away from Lost Rhino to the McClean area. This effectively ends my relationship with the brewery’s food and taps. I will, obviously, still purchase their products from a variety of retailers, but due to where I live and where I will be working, it is impractical for me to even think of driving for lunch or stopping by on the way home.

Throughout my visits, I’ve had a great many time chatting with friends over tasty food and excellent brews. Whether it be a Chicago-style bison hot dog (please bring that one back) and a pint of Kolsch or a smoked brisket sandwich and a glass of My Imaginary Girlfriend, I can’t recall not having a good time on location at the brewery.

With yesterday’s trip, I was glad to see they still had one of my favorite selections available — Woody Stout. This 6.8% ABV bourbon barrel aged treat is one that’s not over-the-top and drinks oh so well. Soft roast, smooth bourbon and dangerously drinkable, this stout has been my go-to beverage whenever it’s present. And I can’t think of a better way to enjoy my last meal at the brewery for the foreseeable future.

So, while this isn’t really a “goodbye,” it will be a long while before I’m able to make a visit to Lost Rhino again. Until we meet again.
