Best Belgian Holiday Beer?

I’m currently in the process of wrapping up a couple of “Year End” posts (as required by virtue of being a beer blogger), and my mind started wondering. It often does this when given a specific task.

I love Holiday seasonal beer. I also really love Belgian beer. I try to pick up a bottle or two whenever I run across something I love or haven’t heard of before. As a result, many a good Christmas-themed releases from the wonderful land of Belgium have crossed my palate.

Belgian Beer Labels

Beers from Brouwerij Huyghe (Delium Noel), Brouwerij Het Anker (Gouden Carolus Noel) and others have all spent time in the basement over the last few years. I still have a single bottle of 2007 N’ice Chouffe — we had a day or two after Thanksgiving and it’s turning out nicely thus far — cellared away for next year and just recently picked up a few bottles of Scaldis Noel.

The best I’ve had so far has been De Dolle’s Stille Nacht. It’s a stellar beer that I have only been able to enjoy twice (both back in 2007). I’m always on the look out for it and any other Belgian Christmas release I can find.

So, that all said, what are some of your favorite Belgian Holiday beers? What would you suggest for immediate consumption and cellaring?
