Evolution Craft Brewing Primal Pale Ale
I hadn’t heard of Evolution Craft Brewing Company until late last year. That could be that they’re overshadowed a bit by their in-state neighbor, Dogfish Head. Could also be that was about the time that I started seeing their products on shelves in my area.
The Primal Pale Ale was picked up last weekend with the company’s Lucky 7 Porter (review to come) while at Cork & Fork in Gainesville a shop that is quickly becoming one of my favorite in the area to frequent. The pale ale is part of the company’s main line of brews and is a 5.0% ABV American Pale Ale that’s nicely balanced and easy drinking.
Appearance
Primal pours a clear amber in color with a large white head that faded to a decent lacing.
Aroma
The nose is a nice balance of bready malts and light citrus hops.
Taste
There’s a great malt presence up front with a bready, caramel profile. It fades smoothly to a light hop bitterness that lingers for a nice while. The crisp mouthfeel and balance to this brew makes it easy to drink and refreshing.
Overall
All I can say is that my new favorite shop better be carrying this when the weather finally warms up in a couple of months. I can see myself having a few bottles of this pale ale after doing some Spring cleaning around the homestead.
