Great Divide Brewing Pulls Out of Parts of Virginia

In a report from BeerNews.org, it appears as though Colorado-based Great Divide Brewing will be pulling out of central and southern Virginia, as well as Washington, D.C. The brewery is siting rapid growth and “exponentially increasing orders” as causes for their decision to cease distribution to these areas and a couple of other states (Michigan, Rhode Island, Delaware and Connecticut).

All I can say, and hope, is that my home is still considered part of Northern Virginia. Of course, the day job is in that area so I should still be able to find some of my favorite beers without issue. You guys in Richmond will have to do a little more driving to find them, however.

First there was Dogfish Head pulling out of a few states to concentrate on their higher demand markets. And now we have Great Divide. Is this a trend or sign of things to come as craft beer popularity increases?
