Tin Cannon Brewing Co. Opens on November 28, 2014

Press Release

Tin Cannon Brewing Co. (TCBC) started with two experienced craft beer home brewers, John Hilkert and Aaron Ludwig, who decided to turn pro. Their longtime dream is to bring specialty brews to the general public; that dream is coming to fruition on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 1pm with the opening of Gainesville, Virginia’s 1st nano-brewery. Tin Cannon’s beers will be brewed, kegged, and served onsite. The co-owners love brewing classic beer styles as well as other styles that push traditional guidelines. The initial brewing set-up will be a 2 barrel (BBL) brewhouse which will produce 60 gallons per batch.

The brewery will serve six beers year around; a blond ale, a dunkelweizen, a black IPA, a porter, a specialty amber ale and a seasonal ale. TCBC will offer sampler flights (4 x 4oz), half pints (8 oz), pints (16 oz) and two sizes of growlers (32 oz and 64 oz).

Located within the Gateway Business Center at 7679 Limestone Drive, Unit #130, Gainesville, VA 20155, TCBC is looking forward to “brewing great craft beers for great people” and welcoming in the growing number of local craft beer fans. The taproom will seat 50 people and will be open Fridays from 4-9pm, Saturdays from 2-9pm and Sundays from 2-8pm.

Brewery tours and private events will be established in the near future and availability will be posted on their website and social media pages. The brewery will not serve food but hopes to have various food trucks available every weekend for customers to consume inside. Customers will be allowed to bring their own food in to enjoy from one of the many local restaurants nearby or order in from Mama Mia Pizzeria, which is located in the same industrial park and will deliver directly to the taproom.

After a successfully-funded Kickstarter campaign designed to raise additional money needed to complete the build-out of the brewery, the owners are looking forward to opening their doors, getting to know their customers and becoming established in the community. When asked what’s it been like to build their long-time dream? “To sum it up, very gratifying. That is magnified by the support we’ve received from our families and the public. It’s quite a boost when people you don’t know root you on! We’ve worked harder than we ever have before, working our full time jobs and then putting in another 8-10 hours at night on the build-out. We did all the construction we could do to save money. There were times when we wished we had hired someone to do it because we were so exhausted. But in the end, we know that we built a large part of this with our own hands, and that makes it all worth it.” The owners have big plans to upgrade to a 20BBL system within two years and distribute locally.

John and Aaron are looking forward to introducing their craft brews to the area and are encouraging all to invite their craft beer-loving friends and family out to Tin Cannon Brewing Co. on their grand opening day. Up-to-date details about the grand opening will be posted on their website and social media pages in the upcoming days.
