Victory Brewing Agave IPA with Grapefruit

With four new rotating releases (two of which will be available in bottles), Victory Brewing recently launched their new Blackboard Series:

“…beers brewed with fresh ingredients that are a creative craft riff on restaurant blackboard specials. The annual series includes a new creation every three months alternating between bottle and draft only releases. Much like restaurant blackboard specials are used to entice loyal patrons to veer off menu and try something interesting and new with market-fresh produce so does the Victory Blackboard Series.”

The first release in this new series is Blackboard Agave IPA with Grapefruit. This 7% ABV brew is crafted with a blend of Simcoe, Citra, Centennial, and Cascade hop varieties, as well as agave syrup and grapefruit. The result is a nicely balanced drinking experience between the piney, hop bite and the melon-like sweetness of the agave. The beer is easy drinking and pretty darn smooth, but I’d almost like a bit more from either the agave or grapefruit to step up a touch.

In the end, regardless of what I’d want more of, Victory have themselves a wonderfully refreshing and tasty brew to get your mind thinking about the upcoming warm months of Spring and not the couple of feet of snow outside that you’ve got to shovel.
