2019 Great American Beer Festival: Local Winners
The 2019 installment of the Great American Beer Festival went down this past weekend in Denver, Colorado. Each year, provides numerous breweries the opportunity to have their abilities and beer recognized amongst their peers and send many a beer nerd into a tizzy over the next whale they need to add to their list.
I’m not so much worried about the styles represented this year – the list is always expanding and shifting – as I am in how our local companies when compared to the rest of the company. Below is a list of the 12 medal winning breweries from Virginia. Unfortunately, either no DC or Maryland establishments participated or were awarded in their categories.

It looks as though Virginia has regained the crown as the lager-kings of America. After two years of failing to keep the title, it’s back!
