Karl Strauss Oktoberfest a True Tribute to World’s Biggest Beer Party in Munich

Karl Strauss Oktoberfest

San Diego, CA – September 14, 2009

Karl Strauss Oktoberfest recently hit shelves and taps throughout Southern California. This beer is brewed true to the Bavarian style that will soon be savored in Munich. “We wanted to brew an Oktoberfest that had a lot of rich flavors but was still easy to drink, especially since this beer is traditionally enjoyed by the liter,” said Brewmaster Paul Segura.

To get the characteristic nutty and toasted malt flavors of this renowned beer style, Karl Strauss did not use a base malt, but rather a blend of Vienna, Munich, and Carahell malts. Perle hops imported directly from the Hallertau region of Germany give the beer a smooth balanced finish. This exceptional session lager is deep golden in color and at 5% ABV, pairs well with roasted meats, grilled burgers, and of course, sausage. Each Fall, Karl Strauss brews an authentic Oktoberfest for beer lovers looking to enjoy some Oktoberfest cheer this side of the planet.

In preparation for the launch of its’ new bottled seasonal series, Karl Strauss is debuting redesigned packaging for this year’s batch of Oktoberfest. The blue and white checks commonly associated with Munich’s famed annual beer festival have been re-interpreted and overlaid on a sketch of the actual brewhouse where the beer was made. Due to the popularity of its Oktoberfest in prior years, the company brewed 1,200 barrels of Oktoberfest to keep up with demand.

Karl Strauss Oktoberfest is available in 6-pack and on tap throughout Southern California. There will also be the ceremonial tapping of Oktoberfest at this year’s Karlfest – a benefit for Surfrider Foundation on Saturday, October 3, 2009. “I look forward to this beer each year,” said Paul, “It’s always a crowd favorite at Karlfest. There is something about Oktoberfest that just puts people in a celebratory mood.”
