Starr Hill Brewery Announces 2019 Lineup and 20th Anniversary

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – (December 12, 2018) Starr Hill Brewery embarks on its 20th Year with a fresh lineup for 2019, featuring thirteen new beers, numerous Pilot Brewery releases, two new limited 12-packs, and their first ever kettle-sour series.

The Sour Series will launch in Spring, with Say It Ain’t Sour 12-pack hitting shelves in April and rotating seasonal 6-packs throughout the year. Late Summer 2019, Starr Hill will debut speciality variety pack Hopped As Hell, containing a wide palette of refreshing India Pale Ale styles to curb the August heat. A revamped All Access Series will offer 16oz. cans of some of Starr Hill’s most innovative recipes.

Old and new classics like Northern Lights IPA and Front Row Golden Ale will be in rotation, and crowd-pleaser Looking Glass IPA will return in early Spring, with new Summer and Winter Seasonal brews to follow. Sellout sensation Box of Chocolates Stout Variety Pack will return with fresh variations.

Fans of the craft brewery can also anticipate surprises in the New Year! To celebrate two decades in Virginia, Starr Hill teases reprised beers, special events, and even some major brand developments.

Some of Starr Hill Brewery’s notable 2019 releases:

The brand new Sour Series will feature kettle-soured brews that pack a sweet, fruit punch. “These sours have enormous complexity — with acidity, dryness, and funk — providing a refreshing alternative to hop-packed IPAs for porch-drinking and early Spring festivals when the weather turns around,” says Starr Hill Brewmaster, Robbie O’Cain. “The acidity and in some cases salinity, as with the goses, will create some flavor combinations which you won’t find in any of the traditional ales and lagers we’ve produced over the years.”

Sour Series brands will be available on draft, in rotating seasonal 6-packs, and in the Say It Ain’t Sour 12-pack. Raspberry American Sour, an extremely low-hopped, kettle-soured wheat ale with raspberry puree, will lead off the Sour Series in April. Following the Raspberry will be a thirst-quenching Lime Gose for Summer, Fall will bring the release of a funky Passionfruit Gose, with a bubbly Guava Gose to follow in Winter.

An easy-drinking Blonde Ale with emphatic hop aroma and flavor (and never-before-used hops) will launch in early May as Starr Hill’s Summer seasonal, replacing The Hook Grapefruit Session IPA.

All Access Series showcases some of the Starr Hill’s most unique and inspired beers. Each release in this very limited series will be on draft, with some newly available in 16oz. cans.

Late Summer in Virginia, it’ll be Hopped As Hell. That’s why you’ll want to cool off with one of four new IPAs from Starr Hill’s latest bold variety 12-pack:

To make room for the upcoming additions to the Starr Hill lineup, two year-round brands will be phased out in January 2019: Double Platinum Imperial IPA and Jomo Vienna Lager. These beers, beloved as they are by retail visitors, will still appear on rotation at the Crozet and Roanoke tap rooms.
